The movie “Renfield” may not have made its debut in theaters yet, but Nicolas Cage is already thinking about revisiting the role at some point. After receiving the Variety Legend & Groundbreaker Award at the Miami Film Festival earlier this month, the actor said he would like to explore Count Dracula’s bloodthirsty servant even more deeply.

“This is perfect timing for Dracula in this movie. But I wouldn’t mind exploring how Dracula became Dracula? How did you become this guy? I want to take the time to portray it, to see how it got there,” Cage explained during an interview when asked which role he would like to see again. “For me, Dracula has always been about love and exile. It’s unrequited love, and eventually, if you don’t get love back, everything goes wrong. I want to look at it.”

“Renfield,” directed by Chris McKay, is a “completely different version” of Dracula. Starring Nicholas Hoult, Cage’s supporting character is a narcissistic boss.

“It’s about a toxic relationship between Renfield and Dracula. Usually, when we see Renfield in the movies, he is portrayed in a grotesque way. Nick [Χουλτ] he is a very charming, handsome, stylish, funny and witty actor. So that’s a unique point of view,” Cage explained.
