“1821: The Heroes”the great production of dramatized SKAI documentaryheld on the occasion of the celebration of 200 years since the Greek Revolutioncomes back to our screens on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 March.
Her top event of modern Greek history unfolds through the eyes of the heroes of the Greek Revolution. The emblematic figures of the Revolution, the course of their lives, their participation and contribution to the struggle. Top actors in the lead roles, more than 700 in supporting roles, great contributors to the preparation and production, filming in 50 different locations inside and outside Attica, in museums and ships, impressive costumes and period equipment, partially capture the size of the production. Historian – speakers present and analyze the general historical context in the years of the Revolution of 1821 and analyze aspects of the personality of each hero. Most of the narration and interviews consist of dramatized scenes and graphic representations.

The episode deals with the story of perhaps the most recognizable figure of the 1821 revolution, the Theodoros Kolokotroniswhom he will pretend to meet, o Leonidas Kakouris.
The general of the revolution, the old man of Moria. Born and raised in the Peloponnese, he lived with one desire: to see his country free. Through a brief biography of his life before 1821, we examine the circumstances that led him to participate so fervently in the revolution. Then, his entire course from 1821 to his end is presented. Immediately after, we will follow the life and history of one of the most beloved and emblematic figures of the revolution, the George Karaiskakiswho is embodied by Argyris Pantazaras. Georgios Karaiskakis was the illegitimate son of a nun and one of the most important generals of the revolution. Through a short biography of his life before 1821 we sketch the daring young man who from nothing ended up as Ali Pasha’s first lieutenant and decided to fight for the creation of a free Greece. Then, his entire course is presented: his most important military successes, his strategic intelligence, the conflicts with Mavrocordatos and his trial, his recognition as commander-in-chief of Roumeli, his efforts to liberate Athens, and his disagreements with the imposed foreign generals until his untimely and shadowy death.

THE Laskarina Boubulina is the next person from the heroes of the Greek Revolution to come to life in the series, with the Theofania Papathoma in a unique interpretation of the role of the captain from Spetses. The woman who stood out with her contribution and sacrifices in the struggle of the revolution. Through a brief biography of her life before 1821, we outline the woman who, after the death of her second husband, decides to take control of her life and take an active part in the struggle. We follow the course of her life in the revolution: her offering of 2 ships in the siege of Nafplio, her participation in the siege of Tripoli, her recognition by all the chieftains as equal, her alliance with Kolokotronis and her exile in during the first civil war. Her return to Spetses and her unjust loss. Laskarina Bouboulina was an iconic personality not only of the revolution but also of women who stood out in an era full of prejudices and inequalities.
Then the life and action of the Hydra captain, Andreas Miaoulisby Erriko Litsis to interpret the role of the captain who managed to prevail in one of the largest fleets of the time. Through a brief biography of his life before 1821 we sketch the bold and well-traveled captain who decided to enter the struggle for independence while he had already retired from travel. His entire course is presented from his proclamation as admiral of the Greeks to his end and his decoration by Othon. The most important naval battles such as those of Gerontas and Samos, the constant hunting of the Turkish fleet, his strategic decisions, his attitude towards civil wars, his relationship with foreign generals, the dark period of the mutiny against Kapodistrias as well as the repentance and his participation on the side of the new king is the reason why he is one of the most important figures in the success of the revolution and the creation of Greece.
