Lena Headey, known for her role as Cersei Lannister in the hit series Game of Thrones of HBO, will return to the small screen with the series “The Abandons” by Kurt Sutter. The 10-episode Western, which is being picked up by Netflix, is Sutter’s first project to debut on a streaming platform.

Headey will play Fiona, a strong and dedicated woman who took in four orphans to raise her own family, driven by a higher purpose and an Irish temper.

Set in 1850’s Oregon, the series follows a diverse group of marginal families as they pursue their “Manifesto” and fight against the corrupting power of wealth and power that is stalking their land. These abandoned souls, living on the fringes of society, unite their clans to form a family and resist those who try to drive them out. In this bloody process, justice is stretched beyond the bounds of the law.

Sutter, who is known for the excellent FX series “Sons of Anarchy” and spin-off “Mayans MC,” will be the showrunner and executive producer of “The Abandons.” Other executive producers of the series are Stephen Surjik and Otto Bathurst, who will also direct the episodes.

Headey’s last major role on the small screen was in Game of Thrones, for which she earned five Emmy nominations. Since then, she has lent her voice to several animated series, including Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. He will also appear in HBO’s upcoming political drama White House Plumbers alongside Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux.

We await the premiere date.
