Ed Sheeran he is featured on the latest cover of “Rolling Stone” magazine and in the interview he gives he talks about everything. As the singer-songwriter said in his song “Shape of You” he wanted to add a rap verse that Jay-Z would write. “We’ve been in touch,” Sheeran says. “I sent him the song and he said, ‘I don’t think the song needs a rap verse.’ He was probably right. He has a very good ear.”

Sheeran he doesn’t understand the role of music critics in the age of streaming. “Why should you read a review? Listen to it. It is available for free! Decide for yourself. “I would never read an album review and say, ‘Now I’m not going to listen to that,'” he says.

He wants to tour less by the time his kids are older and in school. “I love the way country artists do it. They only work on weekends. This is obviously not possible for me to do in America because I live so far away from America. But it’s definitely possible in Europe, just to go out and play in Frankfurt on a Saturday night, and come back.”

With his new album, he’s fulfilled his record deal and isn’t sure how he’ll release music in the future. “It depends,” he says. “Everything is kind of fluid right now because this is my last album with Warner. So I don’t know what to do next. In all honesty, yes, I could put out an independent record. This can be a lot of fun. Just to try.”

He still has a visible scar on his face that he got after a freak incident where someone accidentally cut him with a sword at a party.

“It was very deep,” he says. “I had to get seven or eight stitches. Imagine if he had caught my eye! It’s not that far, is it?’ The story goes like this: “I was at a party. Everyone was drunk. Someone picked up a sword and started swinging it and I didn’t notice. I was standing behind this person and got hit in the face. I didn’t know I was hit until I looked down and saw my shirt covered in blood. The room emptied and the next thing I remember was being in the hospital.”
