Diddy he will have to pay the amount of 5,000 dollars every day to Sting for the rest of his life. The R&B and hip-hop legend was forced to pay a fine for using a snippet of the musician’s song without permission in 1997. The snippet came from the Police’s 1983 hit ‘Every Breath You Take’ and Diddy used it on one of most famous songs of “I’ll Be Missing You”.

Now the American rapper, record producer and businessman has confirmed the amount he is set to pay after a resurfaced Sting interview from 2018. Sting first discussed the matter when he appeared on The Breakfast Club five years ago.

In the video, radio host Charlamagne the God asked the Police frontman, “Is it true that Diddy has to pay you $2,000 because he didn’t ask for permission to use ‘Every Breath You Take’?”

The English musician and actor replied: “Yes, for the rest of his life.” Sting – whose real name is Gordon Matthew Thomas Summer – also stated that Diddy asked him for permission to use the tune, but only after he had already released his song.

Diddy took to Twitter to confirm the statement, but corrected the musician on the actual amount he is expected to pay.
