In November last year, Christiane Pelajo announced her departure from Globo after 26 years at home. The resignation was due to personal projects. One of them was the authorship of a book, called “Uma Sobe e Puxa a Outra”, in partnership with actress Maria Gal. This Wednesday (12), the publication’s launch night, in Rio de Janeiro, the journalist explained the reason for not revealing a kidney cancer diagnosed in 2016.
“I was very shaken by the diagnosis. It was a very great suffering and I didn’t have the structure for people to look at me with pity, with pity, with that face of ‘poor thing, she’s going to die’, ‘how many months to live does she have?’ . I couldn’t stand it. As much as I think I’m a strong person, at that time I was very fragile “, he acknowledged.
Christiane took years to reveal the illness, now recounted in the book, and said she regretted the decision in the past. The journalist explained that she needed a lot of reflection to get rid of the weight and the goal now is to help others face the diagnosis and treatment against cancer.
“I decided to go through this very painful process of my life writing again. When we write, we relive it all. And it was absolutely liberating. I thank the reader who accompanied me until the end of the chapter, because it was a cure for me to have written this so many years later,” he told Quem magazine.
