Helô Pinheiro, 76, claimed to have a grudge against Gisele Bündchen, 41, because of the Rio Olympics in 2016. Inspiring muse of the song “Girl from Ipanema”, by Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes, she said she was “a little outraged” by the model to parade at the opening of the event to the sound of the song.
“Because she [Gisele] she’s not from Rio, she’s not from Rio de Janeiro, and the music has to do with Rio. Not that she didn’t deserve to be there parading, but that she played ‘Aquarela do Brasil’ or Brazilian music, but not the one they gave as a gift. I’m sincere: It hurt in my heart”, said Helô in an interview with the Papagaio Falante podcast, presented by Sergio Mallandro and Luiz França.
Pinheiro said that many people commented that she was the one who should be at the ceremony. “You don’t know what a revolution that was. Because she could meet me in the middle of the catwalk, and give each other a flower, any pampering, and that’s fine. But no. It was such a painful thing, because I didn’t expect it.”
Helô Pinheiro added that he even expected a phone call from Gisele Bündchen to talk about it, since the model is close to Ticiane Pinheiro, her daughter. “They have a contact, it wouldn’t hurt to just say: ‘I’m going’. As was Anitta, she is now ready to put the song ‘Girl from Ipanema’ in parts [em ‘Girl From Rio’], she called, tried to find out, then even sent me a record player. She was super nice, super polite.”
“I think this is even a matter of kindness, it was very cool. Now, Gisele really dropped the ball”, he concluded.
