“We thought we’d give you a little taste of Wicked,” Universal Pictures president Donna Langley said on stage at CinemaCon. Notably, the production of the much-anticipated Broadway film adaptation, directed by John M. Chee and starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in the respective roles of Glinda and Elphaba, is currently in London where filming is taking place.

The footage gave a small taste of the main protagonists and focused a bit more on Elphaba and her training by Madame Morrible (Michelle Geo).

“‘Wicked’ is about change, which is necessary to make things better,” Tsi says in a video. He promises that Grande will “take your breath away” and Erivo will “break your heart”. “They were born to play these roles,” Langley said of the two female leads.

As “Deadline” reports, Qi planted 9 million tulips to capture the beauty of the Emerald City on the big screen without the use of visual effects.

Wicked, written by Winnie Holtzman and Academy Award-winning composer and lyricist Steven Schwartz, will be brought to the big screen in two parts, with the first arriving on November 27, 2024, and the second on December 25, 2025.
