The Film Festival Frameline will open with the screening of the film produced by her Sofia Coppola “Firyland”. The 11-day festival, with a focus on the LGBTQ community, will return to San Francisco and Oakland from June 14-24. “Fairyland” will be followed by “Cora Bora” on June 15 as part of the festival’s Oakland Centerpiece event, while “God Save the Queens” will be screened on June 22 as part of the Pride Kickoff.

Produced by Sofia Coppola and directed by Andrew Durham, “Fairyland” is an adaptation of Alicia Abbott’s memoir of the same name.

“‘Fairyland’ is the perfect film to open Frameline as it is a film set in San Francisco’s rich, gay history,” said Allegra Madsen, director of programming at Frameline. “Beautifully adapted from Alicia Abbott’s memoir, ‘Fairyland’ is essentially the story of a queer father-daughter relationship during the 1970s and 1980s in San Francisco.”
