The shooting of the last cycle of the series is delayed “Stranger Things”as co-creators and executive producers Matt and Ross Duffer, aka the Duffer Brothers, announced that production is “not possible” due to the ongoing strike by the Screenwriters Guild of America.
The announcement was shared on the series’ Stranger Writers Twitter account, where fans have been able to see what’s been going on behind the scenes over the years.
Script writing for the fifth and final season began in August 2022, shortly after the premiere of the fourth season.
Duffers here. Writing does not stop when filming begins. While we’re excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it’s not possible during this strike. We hope a fair deal is reached soon so we can all get back to work. Until then — over and out. #wgastrong

“Duffer here. The writing doesn’t stop when the shooting starts. While we were excited to begin production with our amazing cast and crew, it is ultimately not possible to move forward during this strike,” the show’s co-creators wrote. “We hope a fair deal can be reached soon so we can all get back to work,” they say and express their support for the Screenwriters Guild of America.
The “Stranger Things” series is among several film and television projects affected by the strike, including Marvel Studios’ “Blade,” Apple TV’s “Loot,” NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” “The Talk” on CBS and various late-night talk shows, according to THR.
The Union is demanding, among other things, better pay and additional revenue from streaming services that display its members’ content.
