The 20 years that actor Mateus Solano, 42, spent at Globo were great for his resume. After all, there were more than 15 roles between soap operas and series, such as the unforgettable Félix in “Amor à Vida” (2013), in addition to participation in entertainment programs on the network. However, he says that now he wants to start another phase and that his restlessness led him to want to take new flights in his career.
“The situation that I and the other artists with a long contract at the station were experiencing was absolutely atypical (getting paid to give Globo exclusivity, working or not). Of course, stability is very important, but, at the same time, the artist must feed your restlessness, and the freedom that I get without a long contract has rekindled that flame for me”, he says in a chat with the F5.
“What moves me as an artist? What do I want to say to people? What do I want to take to the stage? These are questions that did not cross my mind thanks to the long contract”, adds Solano, whose agreement was not renewed in the month past.
Since 2020, Globo has given up its medallions and adopted a new dynamic of contracts per work. In addition to Solano, names like Antonio Fagundes, Giovanna Antonelli, Gabriela Duarte, Miguel Falabella, Juliana Paes, Bruno Gagliasso, Lázaro Ramos and Nathalia Dill have already left the station, to stay in a few.
Solano claims that he has no regrets with the old channel, that he was very happy there and that he does not rule out future specific projects. But now he will be able to choose where he wants to act, and streaming proves to be a good alternative.
“I’m developing some ideas with screenwriter and director friends. As for streaming, I’m receiving proposals that are still embryonic, so I can’t reveal them. I’m thinking of doing my first solo in the theater in 2024”, he says.
For Solano, after two decades of services rendered, it is easier to calm down to evaluate new possibilities. “I’m open to proposals, but not just any proposal,” he says.
In personal life, everything is also going well. Married since 2008 to actress Paula Braun, 44, and father of two children, the artist reveals that perhaps the discretion in the relationship is the key to his longevity.
“I never liked to expose my personal life. I didn’t study to be famous or celebrity, but to embody human characters that stir the imagination, with the heart and make people reflect on life. Even so, I have my network share there which already takes me more time than I would like”, he evaluates.
