Singer and host Kelly Clarkson, 41, has responded to allegations from employees of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that the show’s work environment is toxic. She shared a statement on social media this Friday (12) — the same day a Rolling Stone magazine article alleged that producers “overcharged” and “underpaid” the show’s crew members, who said “working on the show was traumatizing for their mental health”.
“The Kelly Clarkson Show” is a morning program on the American broadcaster NBC, in which Clarkson receives guests for interviews and jokes. It has been on the air since 2019 and has almost 700 episodes. “In my 20 years in the entertainment industry, I have always been guided by my heart and what I believe is right,” wrote the singer. “I love my team, and to find that someone feels ignored or disrespected on this show is unacceptable.”
She continued, “I have always been and will continue to be committed to creating and maintaining a safe and healthy environment on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’. As we prepare for our move to the East Coast, I am more committed than ever to ensuring that not just our moving team, but also our new team in New York, is made up of the best and kindest in the business.”
“Part of that build will include leadership training for the entire senior team including myself. There is always room to grow and ensure we are all being/becoming the best versions of ourselves in any business, especially when it comes to leadership. To ensure any notion of toxicity is eradicated,” he concluded.
The show’s employees’ complaints — which included testimony from one current employee and 10 former employees — don’t extend to the host herself, as staff members told Rolling Stone that Clarkson is “fantastic” and “has no idea how unhappy are its employees”.
To People magazine, representatives of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” commented on the accusations. “We are committed to a safe and respectful work environment and take workplace complaints very seriously, and to imply otherwise is untrue,” reads a statement from an NBCUniversal spokesperson.
“When issues are reported, they are promptly reviewed, investigated, and addressed as appropriate. ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ strives to build a safe, respectful, and fair work environment that fosters a culture of inclusion and creativity,” he says. also the statement.
