Angélica talks about the vibrator she gave as a gift to her 78-year-old mother: ‘I think she loved it’

The presenter Angélica, 49, spoke about the beginning of her career, sexuality and taboos in an interview with Conversa com Bial (Globo) aired this Friday (12). She says she sees violence and abuse in questions about her sexuality when she was young. She also comments on the unusual gift choice for her 78-year-old mother: a vibrator.

In the program, Angélica comments on the lyrics of the song “Vou de Táxi”, released when she was 14 years old, and talks about the media’s curiosity about her virginity. “I suffered moral abuse at a very young age, aged 14,” she explains. “Everyone wanted to know if I was a virgin and they asked this question: ‘Are you a virgin?’

She says she rewatched one of the interviews in which, after being asked about the topic, she lost the conversation and felt embarrassed. “It’s violence for a 14-year-old girl. Today, I feel very sorry for that girl. I experienced a lot of things that she hurt”, she reports.

After leaving TV Globo, Angélica says she is in a process of rediscovery, which includes the company in which she is a partner, “Mina Bem-Estar”, and comments on the episode in which she gave a brand vibrator to her mother. “I was very proud when it happened. It’s the daughters teaching the mothers, the mothers receiving information, this exchange.”

“At 78 years old, had she never put her hands on a vibrator?” asks Bial. “No.”, confirms the presenter. “She asked me why I started publicizing the ‘Bliss Bullet’. Then she saw it and said: ‘Angélica, I want that thing from Mina that you publicized’. She couldn’t even speak, this generation is difficult. I gave it to her. I told her and explained, I said that I had to put it on to charge. She said: ‘I’ll tell you later’. I joked and said: ‘No, I don’t. I don’t need to know anything’. I think she loved it. I thought it was very cool and very emblematic.”

Angélica also talks about the relationship and dialogue about sexuality with her children, Eva, 10, Joaquim, 18, and Benício, 15. “We talk a lot. Today, with social networks, they will have access to this information. If I don’t talk, someone will talk”, he comments. The presenter says she hopes that her youngest daughter, Eva, can speak openly with her about such matters.
