Senator Magno Malta (PL-ES) became the target of criticism on social networks after commenting on the repercussions of the case of racism against Brazilian Vinicius Júunior, in Spain, last Sunday (21). This Tuesday (23), the politician said that TV stations were “re-victimizing” the Real Madrid player “because the subject was popular” in the last two days.
Malta even demanded animal cause associations to “defend the monkeys”, since the animal was being exposed. The statement was made during a CAE (Economic Affairs Commission) hearing at the National Congress and shown on TV Camera. Not satisfied, the politician also said that “if he were a black player”, he would enter the field “with a white piglet in his arms” to show that “he had nothing against whites”.
The statement caused an uproar among netizens. “I prefer to abstain. Unbelievable,” wrote humorist Marcelo Adnet, one of the first to comment on Malta’s comment. Youtuber Felipe Neto went further. “This stupid thinking of Magno Malta is defended by many people. The idea of ”to end racism, just stop talking about it or make fun of it”. matter that goes away. People with rotten souls”, he commented.
Anonymous netizens also criticized the senator about the opinion of the episode involving Vinicius Júnior. “Unfortunately people like Magno are elected and the people need to learn to choose people who contribute. People who think and want to change things. Enough of racism”, commented a Twitter user. “He created such an absurd line of reasoning that it can only be a mockery. Unimaginable”, completed another follower.
