Idris Elba and his wife, Sabrina Daure Elba, will co-produce a CBC/BBC documentary about racism in the music industry.
As Variety reported, the documentary “Paid in Full: The Battle for Payback” it will cover the plight of black artists, who have been exploited and are not given rights or paid for their work.
The three-part documentary is produced by Idris Elba’s Green Door Pictures and Sabrina Elba’s Pink Towel. “Not just a music documentary, the series will explore the music industry within a racial context and reflect the history of exploitation in the industryTanya Shaw, CEO of Zinc Television, which is involved in the production, explained.

“It will focus on conversations about structural racism and those who have worked so hard to expose it». The documentary will examine the ways in which black music, from jazz to hip-hop, has been exploited for profit, but that its creators do not always see their fair share of royalties and remuneration.

Idris Elba, in addition to being a producer and actor, is also a DJ and likely has a personal contribution to the documentary due to his musical interests. He was featured on Jay-Z’s 2007 album American Gangster.
