An ad for her Calvin Klein featuring a transgender man and a plus-size model posing in a sports bra has sparked backlash from netizens and gone viral on social media.

In a promotional clip released by the brand, which has long been known for its sexy ads featuring fit topless models, the Bappie Kortram she is seen wearing jeans and a sports bra.

Bappie, who is originally from the Netherlands, is represented by various modeling agencies around the world, including the UK’s Zebedee Talent, which describes him as a transgender man.

The ad, which was originally shared as part of the Calvin Klein Pride 2022 campaign, went “viral” this week after it was retweeted by a social media user who wrote: “Calvin Klein wants to go bankrupt,” according to with the “Daily Mail”.

Images from the same shoot are still used on the UK website of the Calvin Klein brand. Other users were taken aback by the ad, with one writing: “Disgusting. This is not a good advertisement for his clothes at all. Stop giving in to all these demands, as this will only hurt your brand in the long run.”

After a number of companies, such as Bud Light, Adidas and Target, it was Calvin Klein’s turn to receive intense “fire” on social media for this particular ad.

Another user added: “The bra and beard thing has me confused. If he’s trying to be more feminine, why is he keeping a beard?’, while another noted: ‘I thought the ads work to make things look attractive and aspirational.’

Also, another commented: “Good on them for feeling so good about themselves, but I don’t think most people find that physically attractive or want to see it. Certainly not me!”.

However, there were also several who defended the ad, with one commenting that it was the “first time he felt like a Calvin Klein model”.
