After relevant testimonies, SEH condemns television productions that ask prospective actors to mention in their CV how many… followers they have on social media!
With the new tv season is several months away, there are many new productions of the Greek channels that are in the process of searching for the actors who will fill the cast and embody the characters that each creator or director has envisioned.
However, according to actors – members of the Greek Actors Association, some productions are not actually looking for actors… but influencers.
This is made clear by the announcement issued this morning by the SEH, following relevant testimonies from members of the union, that during casting for specific TV series, the managers asked the prospective actors to mention them how many followers they have on social media.
SEH’s announcement
“Regarding the casting of actors for the television productions: After testimonies from our members, it came to the attention of our association that in some castings for television series of the next season, the people in charge of the process in question ask the prospective actors, in addition to the CV the note, the number of followers they have on social media.
With this announcement, we want to categorically state that the number of followers on social media can never be a criterion for selecting an actor for his work and has nothing to do with the artistic process. The digital image of an actor and the way it is made available electronically cannot affect his inalienable right to work…”.
