4th Alimos Classic Car Sunday impresses: 25,000 visitors marvel at everything from pre-war Fords to electrified cars – See photos

Alimos beat… Miami! His success could only be described as “triumphant”. 4th Alimos Classic Car Sunday as over 25,000 spectators walked along the promenade, admiring, taking pictures, dancing, having fun.

It is estimated that 100,000 selfies were taken and it was definitely a feast for the eyes with the smiling faces of the adults and the bewildered, but full of joy wide eyes of the children.

“We would have to have the talent of a poet to describe this orgy of colors and music, on a Sunday of celebration with an important cultural sign,” said the mayor of Alimos, Andreas Kondylis, who stayed for many hours next to – and among – the legends of the global automotive industry.

The exhibition was also visited by the press representative of New Democracy, Akis Skertsos, who told the organizers that he was impressed by the exhibits and the number of visitors. The mayor welcomed his other guests, among them the regional governor Giorgos Patoulis, who declared himself ready for a similar but pan-Athenian event (probably the “Tour of Athens”) with the finest classics. The hundreds of auto repairers, Stamatis Spanoudakis, Maria Bakodimou, Alkistis Maragoudaki and other good friends were happy.

From very early in the morning, Nikos Mastorakis supervised the exemplary arrangement, with the help of experienced partners from the cooperating Clubs, so that when the pedestrian street was flooded with a colorful crowd, the visitors knew where and what to find. The ACCS creator says: “We had a staggering variety this year which made us understand the wealth of the country with 18,000 classics. The attention of our visitors was first attracted by the military vehicles and a little further up, the new Porsche Park, a huge piece of green grass, inaugurated with historic cars and expensive future classics (Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini) by Paris Iliadis. Admiration for the expensive behemoths, affection and sympathy for the small and “humble.” But there were many who stopped next to the classic Volkswagen Bulli and its electric sibling ID Buzz, where PPC blue had installed its impressive charger, perfectly connecting the past with the irresistible present of electric mobility, which will certainly be the future. »

Hearts were stolen by the huge American cars, the endless Cadillac limousines, an… American patrol car, the red Ferrari F430 Spider, the legendary Kitt (popular in the previous generations, but also loved by their children), but a charming color palette was made up of the coordinated and sweet Fiat 500s on the pedestrian Cadillac Avenue as well as the amphitheater lined sedans at the Los Alimos theater! The music was non-stop and covered many decades of memories and queues formed in front of the ice cream parlors. “The hallmark of the event’s success,” comments the mayor of Alimos, “was that even an hour after it ended, hundreds of visitors were still coming! It made us think that so much effort and such acceptance require ACCS to become two days, maybe even three days!”

The drivers were warmly applauded and left laden with gifts, while the spectators left impressed and excited.

The public’s vote for the most popular car is underway, while the committee’s decision for the most beautiful history will be announced at the same time as the other prizes and gift certificates from the “Plaisio”.

As for the lucky winner of the lottery for “a Sunday with a Rolls Royce”, i.e. the one who has the lottery ticket 3123, he is wanted to “cash in” on the dream ride with company, chauffeur and beach meal.

The organizers hope that the Alimos Classic Motorbike Sunday will have the same success with historic and modern impressive motorcycles on Sunday 11 June.
