One of his most popular groups in the 1980s and early 1990s until it was discovered that they weren’t singing themselves
New feature-length documentary examines the true story of… infamous R&B and pop duo Milli Vanilli, one of the most popular groups in the 1980s and early 1990s until it was discovered they weren’t singing themselves.
Paramount+’s Milli Vanilli will make its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 10 before debuting on the streaming platform in the fall.
The documentary goes behind the scenes through exclusive interviews with band members Fab Morvan and the late Rob Pilates, who died of an alcohol and prescription drug overdose in 1998.
“Finally the true story of Milli Vanilli is being told!” Morvan said in a statement. “I am grateful to Luke Korem and his team for doing everything. The journey I returned to during the filming of this documentary left nothing unexplored. I can finally close this chapter in peace…” he added.
There are also interviews with record executives and the producer behind the duo.
Director and producer Luke Corem added: “For over 30 years, the story of ‘Milli Vanilli’ and especially Rob and Fab has been reduced to sensational headlines. With this documentary, we pull back the curtain on pop music.”
