May 5th (World Environment Day) has been for 50 years the main event of the UN to inform the public about environmental problems facing our planet.
Fortunately there are people who think every day about the environment and have created for us documentaries that explain with clear and at the same time interesting eyes some of the most important phenomena that pollute, burden the environment or anyway contribute to the destruction of our planet.

Climate Change: The Facts
We start with the basics and since there are – sadly still – many climate change deniers, this BBC documentary series is quite useful. Hosted by Sir David Attenborough, at the forefront of the fight to save our planet, this documentary discusses climate change and possible ways to deal with it. Some of the leading scientists explain what could happen if global warming continues up to 1.5 degrees. We see the consequences of increased temperature on vulnerable ecosystems, the ice and of course extreme weather events.

Seaspiracy: Fishing Answers
Perhaps one of the most popular documentaries on Netflix, Seaspiracy launched on the platform in 2021 – and yet we’re still talking about it. Directed by Briton Ali Tabrizi, this documentary explores the impact of fishing on the environment – ​​yes, man has managed to interfere with sea life with disastrous natural consequences. Essentially, Tabrizi argues that plastic pollution and overfishing are destroying the oceans. When the documentary is over, you’ll probably have second and third thoughts about whether you want to eat seafood and fish again.
