Rita Lee’s death completes one month this Thursday (8) and the singer’s son, João, paid tribute on his Instagram profile. In a video, he shows one of the moments when the whole family was going to the hospital, before an appointment. João describes that the routine was “always the same”, with everyone involved and very disciplined with schedules.
The drive was long and, with luck, it took them 45 minutes in traffic. “Knowing that anxiety has always been strong in the three of us, those moments that precede consultations, exams and/or therapies were the ones that made us most anxious. Dealing with the unpredictable is never easy. Dealing with the unpredictable in someone’s health situation that you love more than anything in life is a million times harder. I can’t even imagine what it was like for her”, narrates João, in an excerpt.
According to her son, however, Rita always set a “wonderful example for everyone” around her. “She never let herself down and was never in a bad mood. Always with her head held high, brave, determined and strong. This video is just an example of how she managed to transform these difficult moments into magical and special moments”, he describes, showing the artist dancing with his hands to the sound of “Le Freak”, by the group Chic, a hit from the 1970s.
Rita Lee died at the age of 75, in São Paulo, after fighting lung cancer.
