Ross Daly, Los Tre, Kooba Tercu and Bucolic Disorder at Southern Fest Summer 2023
The Festivals of the South return in the summer of 2023 with four musical meetings, giving life to different places and villages of the Municipality of Monemvasia.
On June 11, the Antimamalo band will enchant us musically with rebetika and Smyrna songs, in Paradise, the traditional settlement of the Vatican.
On July 29, Los Tre and Kooba Tercu will take us on a journey with world music and exotic noisy rock sounds, at the old primary school in Nomia Monemvasia.
On August 9th, Adalou and Vukolic Disturbance are coming to excite us in a different traditional evening next to the Vatiki coast, in Neratziona.
On September 16, Ross Daly in a rare appearance will ‘flood’ the iconic Monemvasia Castle with the tropical sounds of the Cretan lyre and Afghan rhabab.
The music festival “‘ASTRIA – Festivals of the South” is a non-profit, group project of young people living in Vatika Laconia, based on KoinSEp Thimbri. It aims to highlight the special beauty of the place, to make the sharing of experiences, the grafting of ideas, solidarity and joint action a common experience.
“We believe in and seek the revival of that cooperative and companionable mood of the older ones, which somehow got lost over time, so we reciprocate in different musical festivals and in selected places. Against the times, we insist that sharing is the journey…” – the AUSTRIA team
The Festivals of the South were started in 2018 by a group of young people, who were born, grew up, left and returned to Neapolis Laconia. They took place again in 2019 and after two years of absence, due to the pandemic, they returned in 2022 with vigor and appetite in the wider area of the Municipality of Monemvasia. Among others, they have hosted Gidiki, Pleiades, Trio Katara, BrassClasse, JD Walter & V.Stefanopoulos and Diminuita. Year after year, this voluntary initiative grows. Let the Holidays begin!
