In the 2nd Evia Film Project that will take place from June 20 to 24, well-known and beloved creators, as well as professionals of the film and television industry from Greece and the whole world, share the secrets of their art and work with the public North Evia.

The masterclasses will take place in Agia ‘Anna and Edipsos and the entrance for the public will be free.

The goal of the Evia Film Project, which is the third activity pole of the Thessaloniki Film Festival, is to promote North Evia, a region deeply affected by the devastating fires of 2021, as a global center for green cinema.

The masterclasses will take place at the restaurant “Ta Kanatakia”, on the beach of Agia Anna, in Greek, without translation.

Masterclass Zacharias Mavroides | Thursday 22 June, 18:00

“Storytelling mon amour”

The director, writer and screenwriter Zacharias Mavroidis, creator of the multi-awarded films “The Guide” and “The Exile”, will hold a presentation that will unlock the mystery of storytelling in cinema, analyzing the concept and the various forms of the cinematic text.

Masterclass Lefteris Charitou | Friday June 23, 11:00

“From the crisis of cinema to the rise of television”

Lefteris Charitos, director of the documentary “Dolphin Man” and the great TV hit “Wild Bees” and president of the Hellenic Film Academy, will talk about the flourishing and new trends prevailing in the Greek television landscape today. “Professional, Artist, Filmmaker”

The much-loved creator Giorgos Tseberopoulos has given us some of the greatest films of modern Greek cinema. Among which the films “Sudden Love”, “Hello” and “Back Door”. In the masterclass he presents his own professional and artistic experiences from a great career of five decades in the field.

“Turning fairy tales for adults”

The director, screenwriter and producer Elina Psykou is behind the multi-award winning films “The eternal return of Antonis Paraskevas” and “Son of Sophia”. During the masterclass he will guide us through the symbols and images of the personal world of cinema.

“How to find the light”

Acclaimed director of photography Olympia Mytilineou, who has collaborated with great creators from Greece and abroad, including Panos K. Koutras, Alexandros Avranas, Stavros Tsiolis and Talal Derki, explains to the public all their unseen and magical aspects her profession.

All the above masterclasses are part of an intensive workshop for students of the Department of Digital Arts and Cinema of EKPA, based in Psachna, Evia. The educational masterclasses are held with the support of the Hellenic Film Center.

All masterclasses in Edipsos will take place in the cultural hall “Melina Merkouri”. Entry will be free to the public, on a first-come, first-served basis. The masterclasses will be held in English, without translation.

The above masterclasses in Edipsos are held in the context of the leading international meeting organized by the CIRCLE Women Doc Accelerator, one of the most important documentary development programs, which is held for the first time in Greece, at the Evia Film Project.

Masterclass by Danai Spathara | Saturday, June 24, 11:00

“Filming in Evia”

A large part of Swedish director Ruben Estlund’s The Triangle of Sorrow, which was nominated for three Academy Awards and won the Palme d’Or at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, was filmed on the island of Evia in 2020. The film was a Greek co-production and line producer Danae Spathara (Heretic) guides us through the process of locating and selecting locations.

The masterclass will complete a three-day event of the Festival aimed at location managers from all over the world and will also include a FAM Trip (familiarization trip) that will take place in Northern Evia, giving professionals the opportunity to discover unique locations that they could be used as a filming location for major productions in Greece and abroad.
