The Teloglion Foundation of Arts of AUTh continues the presentation of pairs of artists with two creators of the generation of the ’80s, Eduardo Sakagian and Anna – Maria Tsakali coexisting in its premises.
Two artists with different temperaments, who at first glance seem to create with a diametrically opposite artistic idiom in the field of painting, meet subcutaneously and coexist, sometimes driven by external circumstances and sometimes by the internal contact that common life implies, the common experiences, feelings, fears and thoughts read in their work.
In Eduardo Sakayan’s exhibition, entitled “Spectators, Audience, White Rider, Crowd and Herd”, the stylized figures are rendered without unnecessary details – abstractly – in everyday, familiar scenes, which refer to the urban societies in which they live and act, while the spectators function as idols of a reality, which everyone is called to decode based on both the collective and the individual experience.
The flowers depicted in the exhibition of Anna Maria Tsakali entitled “Secret Gardens” become symbols with multiple contradictory meanings. A source of expression of beauty and life, the flowers simultaneously condense in their fragile and ephemeral existence, the tragic fate of decay and death.
