The covered markets, taverns and nightlife of Thessaloniki are recommended to its readers by the Canadian award-winning lifestyle e-magazine “DobbernationLoves”, which presents the lifestyle of the people, the cuisine of the countries, art, fashion, beauty, entertainment as well as news of the LGBT community.

The site’s journalist, writer and photographer Andrew John Virtue Dobson visited Thessaloniki, as part of his hospitality by the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, following the recommendation of the Foreign Office of EOT America in collaboration with Chef Stories, Fine Food and Services.

Dobson travels the world and “narrates” his fun travel experiences with an emphasis on tasting experiences.

In Thessaloniki, the Canadian journalist visited restaurants, patisseries, wineries, bakeries and many street-food hangouts and wrote that the city has experienced many cultures that have left their mark on its culture and rightly has the stamp of UNESCO as the capital of its gastronomy Greece.

Dobson urges the traveler to walk the covered markets of Thessaloniki to sample produce grown in Northern Greece and used in Greek, Jewish, Balkan, Asia Minor and local recipes.

Special emphasis is placed on the taverns, where the visitor can taste tsipouro and wine but also listen to Greek folk music and rebetika.

He stated, after all, that Thessaloniki is a city with many students and that is why it is famous for its late night club scene, which means that “one can enjoy a delicious round until the early hours of the morning”.

“DobbernationLoves” has over 210,000 hits a month and 2 million a year. Its readership comes from the US, Canada and the UK.
