by

Sarah Ferguson, 63, ex-wife of Prince Andrew, was diagnosed with breast cancer and needed surgery. According to the spokesperson for the Duchess of York, she did not have any symptoms and only discovered the disease after a routine examination. The tumor was found on a mammogram and the doctors decided to have surgery to remove the cyst.

The writer also underwent the procedure a few days ago at the King Edward VII private hospital in London, and left the health unit this Sunday (25) to continue her recovery at home. “Now, she is recovering alongside her family,” the spokesperson began. “The Duchess expresses her immense gratitude to all the medical staff who have supported her in these last few days and is also very grateful to the staff who performed the mammogram that identified her disease. She believes her experience highlights the importance of having regular checkups.”

Sarah was married to Prince Andrew, son of Queen Elizabeth II, between 1986 and 1996. The two are the parents of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. She recorded an episode of her new podcast, Tea Talk, before undergoing surgery, where she talks about her diagnosis. The program will be launched this Monday (26).
