In the south of France, on a sunny Mediterranean coast lies Cap d’Agde – a nudist-only village that hosts up to 40,000 people in the summer months.

To be precise, the town of Cap d’Agde south of Montpellier is a normal town but to the north-east of it is the independent Naturist resort Cap d’Agde – however, especially in the summer with the mass influx of nudists, the boundaries are indistinct (and the townspeople suffer).

The Naturist resort Cap d’Agde is an “autonomous” small state exclusively for nudists and swingers, which every lover of this lifestyle dreams of visiting at some point.

It has everything and every… conventional seaside village: Marina for boats, beach cafes, restaurants and clubs, supermarkets, shops and banks – and everywhere everyone walks around naked (except the staff).

The sense of clothing and sexual freedom there is absolute, but there are also strict rules: taking photos and videos of third parties and sexual assaults are prohibited.

Also, signs warn of a year’s imprisonment and a fine of 15,000 euros for any public sexual act.

Policing is discreet as petty crime is almost non-existent – especially on the nudist beach.

“Where will the thief hide his stolen goods? Because he’s naked” says laughing Johnny Walker, the village’s only foreign bar owner.
