‘What they are doing to Gugu’s memory is a sin’, says Nani Venâncio

Nani Venâncio hardly wears the emerald ring she received from Gugu Liberato (1959-2019) for over 30 years. She prefers to keep it together with her other jewelry, but whenever she misses the presenter, she takes the object to remember the good times with her friend.

Today presenter of the program Tarde Top, on Rede Brasil TV, she says she is shocked and scared by the supposed “revelations” that have been appearing in the media about Gugu. “Poor guy. He doesn’t deserve this. It’s regrettable what they’re doing to his memory”, comments Nani, who became famous by appearing naked at the opening of the original version of “Pantanal” (1990), in the extinct Manchete.

In the early 1990s, the then model was even named as Gugu’s girlfriend. Nani says that the two did not actually have a relationship, but claims that she would have agreed to marry him if the proposal had been made when she received the emerald ring.

“We were best men at the wedding of Ingra Lyberato and Jayme Monjardim at that time”, he recalls. “We were in Salvador, and he got a glass of champagne on the plane, blindfolded me and gave me the ring. I always believed in marriages based on love, admiration, friendship and respect, and I felt all of that for him. with Gugu, yes.”

Nani classifies as “disgusting” the exposure that has been made of the presenter’s intimacy amid the dispute over the inheritance he left. “This whole fight is sad. Who has the right, who does not, who is the widow, who was the partner … I wonder what would have happened if he hadn’t left R$ 1 billion”, she comments.

She says that rumors about the presenter’s sexual orientation have always existed, but that Gugu was very reserved and didn’t usually open up about the subject with anyone. “Gugu was extremely discreet, a true gentleman, and now everyone wants to say ‘bombs’. They’re saying he was ‘promiscuous’! It’s horrible”, she complains. “While he was alive, nobody said anything and now it’s one bomb after another. Honestly, I don’t understand. Why is that, my God?”
