Actress and singer Jamie Lynn Spears, 30, claims to have received an apology from her sister, Britney Spears, 40, and shared the text message with the public in her new memoir, according to Page Six.
“In a recent message from my sister, she declared: ‘I know it’s not your fault and I’m sorry for being so mad at you. needed,'” Jamie Lynn wrote in the book “Things I Should Have Said.”
Britney’s rep did not respond when Page Six reached out to confirm the message’s authenticity.
The Spears sisters have been at odds for years as Britney felt Jamie Lynn wasn’t there for her during her guardianship battle.
While it’s unclear when the pop star sent the alleged mea culpa, the actress included it in the chapter of her book that details the bombshell June 2021 hearing in which Britney said her family “should be in jail” for her abusive guardianship. was submitted for 13 years, which ended in November.
“I pray for the day she shares those words with the world,” Jamie Lynn writes of Britney’s alleged apology. “I have no control over anything the media reports and I cannot be held responsible for something I have absolutely no control over.”
While the sisters may have gotten along at some point, the book’s publication reopened old wounds. A source exclusively told Page Six last week that Britney was “rolling her eyes” with Jamie Lynn talking about their fight during TV interviews promoting her memoir.
A second source, however, countered that Jamie Lynn “wasn’t surprised by this reaction, because that’s the reaction she’s received from her family all her life.”
Britney, who unfollowed Jamie Lynn on Instagram earlier this month, tried to end the feud by tweeting on Saturday (15): “Come on!!! We should have each other’s support…but what are you really saying? confuses me!!! All I know is that I love you unconditionally!!! So go ahead and say what you want… it’s so corny for a family to publicly fight like that!!!”
Jamie Lynn, meanwhile, claimed to have “tried many times” to resolve their differences privately, writing on Instagram: “This is embarrassing and it has to stop.”
