During her Paris Men’s Fashion Weeka skateboarding facility appeared on the banks of the Seine, at the height of the Pont Alexandre III bridge.

Plexiglas creation by studio PlayLab Inc and construction company California Skateparks for Vansthe installation consisted of a series of skateboarding elements placed on a rectangular-shaped pedestal with the signature checkerboard pattern associated with the American skateboarding footwear company, Vans.

“The clear plexiglass allows the audience to see through the ramps to the skateboarding and is a reference to the iconic Louvre pyramid nearby,” noted Archie Lee Coates IV and Jeff Franklin, founders of PlayLab Inc.

They were placed on the podium massive walls with a checkerboard pattern, which carried LED screens from which live footage of skateboarding was broadcast which were recorded during the week by 14 CCTV cameras which were integrated into the facility.

“Together, we wanted to create a place that could be used by those involved in the sport, but not immediately registered as a skateboarding park. The transparent skate elements are both a nod to the future and a reference to the past, especially the legendary acrylic skateboarding ramps of the 1970sits Los Angeles-based co-founders explained to Dezeen.

The installation has now been uninstalled but Vans and California Skateparks donated elements of the installation at Cosanostra Scatepark, in the commune of Chelles, in the eastern suburbs of the French capital.
