“It took us right back…to the essence of our school friendship. It was a game that excited him as it did me. This happened a few months before his death,” he added.

On November 3 he will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame during a ceremony to be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. “He would be rightly very proud and he deserves his place there,” said Ringelly. You know, he’s a true legend and an icon of modern music…he was probably the best voice and best songwriter of his generation. There aren’t many who were as good as him.”
When asked what he would say to him today if he were alive, the singer notes with a laugh: “What would I say to him? Oh, let’s go have a drink.’
