In a new filing, according to CNN, former investment firm Nouvel of Jolie blames Pitt and his own people that they are trying to maintain control of Château Miraval by “stripping” and “looting” its assets. Nouvel is asking for at least $350 million in damages!

“Pitt squandered the company’s assets, spending millions on ‘vanity’ projects, including over $1 million to renovate a pool, build and rebuild a staircase four times, and spend millions restoring a recording studio.” , it says in a document filed on Monday, July 10, 2023.

Nouvel’s lawyers argue in the filing that Pitt’s “bad behavior” escalated after Jolie sold Nouvel in October 2021 to Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of the Stoli group, controlled by Russian oligarch Yuri Scheffler.

“Infuriated that Jolie sold Nouvel to Stoli and not to him, Pitt acted like a petulant brat, refusing to treat Nouvel as an equal partner in the business,” the filing states.

Pitt first filed a lawsuit over Jolie’s sale of the estate and winery in February 2022, calling it “illegal” because, he claims, the two had agreed when they bought the estate that neither of them would sold without the other’s consent.

Jolie filed a countersuit, claiming that no such agreement ever existed and that she sold her stake in the winery in an effort to gain “financial independence” from Pitt and “have some form of ‘peace’ and closure on this deeply painful and traumatic chapter of her life and that of their children”.

The former couple bought the country house and winery in the south of France in 2008.

In court documents last month, Pitt’s lawyers called the sale of Jolie’s stake in Miraval “vindictive.” Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016. They officially separated in 2019, but child custody is pending.
