Think Call Me By Your Name with a hint of Mamma Mia and Under The Tuscan Sun
Following the footsteps of popular trends that appear periodically in the Instagram and TikToklike cottagecore and clean girl, here we have it tomato girl.
A trend that embodies the Mediterranean summer, with slightly clearer references to vacations on the beaches of Italy. Girls drinking Aperol spritzes on the Amalfi Coast bring a nostalgic version of the Mediterranean lifestyle to our screens. Plates of fresh tomatoes with olive oil and a little salt, books in the hot Italian sun, swimming in the Mediterranean and a glass of coffee in the retro Italian kitchen in the mornings.
They wear floaty linen dresses, their hair is messy and wavy (from their morning swim in the sea) and their makeup is natural (except for their red lipstick, of course). The only jewelry they wear is a grandmother’s ring, but also a straw bag full of vegetables and fruits.
You don’t have to move to Italy to achieve the look — you just need to buy some linen dresses, a pair of espadrilles and a straw bag.
The materials are soft and airy, often with ruffled sleeves and a fitted bodice. The shades are earthy: white, brown, gold, green, red and yellow.
