The Oscar-winning director of the legendary film Titanic, James Cameronis set to direct a drama series about its destruction submarine Titan, with five dead, which shocked the international community.

According to people familiar with the matter, a streaming platform approached the acclaimed director – who has explored the Titanic by submarine 30 times – to tell in his own unique way the story of the five dead passengers who lost their lives in the submarine last month.

A source commented that “Destruction of Titan is already being approached as a big series for one of the biggest streaming platforms in the world – and James is the first choice for the director’s position. It’s an issue close to his heart.” “He told the story of the Titanic with such compassion that it seems a natural step for him to do so. Retracing the footsteps of Titan’s passengers is a huge undertaking, but it will take a lot of time, money and resources.”

Hollywood actor Matt Damon is said to be on the cast list for the project, as is comedian Kumail Nanjiani.

Canadian-born Cameron won three Oscars for Titanic in 1998, including the Oscar for Best Picture. He is also an expert in deep-sea exploration, and has been highly critical of the head of OceanGate Expeditions Stockton Rush about the way the boat is built. Stockton Rush was among the five victims.
