The trailer for his new film was released by Focus Features Alexander Payne (Alexander Payne) titled “The Holdovers”.
This is the eighth film of the two-time award-winner Oscar director and tells the story of a grumpy professor played by Paul Giamatti who is forced to stay at the university during Christmas break to look after a small group of students who cannot go to their families.
So he forms an unlikely bond with a bright rowdy student and the school cook who has just lost her son in Vietnam.
After nearly 20 years, Giamatti reunites with Payne and the film stars Dominic Sessa and Tony Award-nominated actress and singer Da’Vine Joy Randolph.
Carrie Preston (Carrie Preston), Tate Donovan (Tate Donovan) and Gillian Vigman (Gillian Vigman) complete the cast among others.
The script is written by David Hemingson while he shares the production with Mark Johnson and Bill Block.
According to Deadline, the world premiere of the film is expected in November.
