• Requiem for Fanny Goldman, directed by Zoi Hadjiantoniou at Piraeus 260

The story of a woman who was exterminated by the patriarchy is told with the performance “Requiem for Fanny Goldman” the director Zoe Hadjiantoniou, at Piraeus 260. The great work of Ingeborg Bachmann, the “brilliant and most important” Austrian writer according to Bernhard, is presented at the Festival with a troupe of excellent Greek actresses: Hara Mata Giannatou, Anna Kalaitzidou, Alexia Kaltsikis and Elina Rizou. Drawing from the ellipticalness of the Requiem ‒ full of parentheses, euphemisms, latent words in the attempt to decipher it editorially‒, Zoi Hadjiantoniou’s performance creates a landscape of narrative ruptures similar to Bachmann’s universe. How does the latent fascism of everyday life seep into language and relationships? How female subjectivity is ultimately expelled from a world in which it has no place are her main questions.

  • Run: A Stage Essay on the Lack of Time by Giorgos Valais at the National Theatre

Giorgos Valais presents an original work about time on the stage of the National Theater “Nikos Kourkoulos”, entitled “Run – A staged essay on the lack of time”, in the context of the Athens Epidaurus Festival 2023. The new show of the Greek creator draws inspiration from the reality of modern man, talking about his anxieties with a bold stage language. Why does time pass faster today than ever before? Where does this sense of things constantly speeding up come from? How do we deal with time as a society and how are we affected by its permanent lack? The show confronts questions that are at the center of the searches of modern man, based on today’s work and social reality.
