In the illustrated pages of the book there are ten photographs of Sevigny
A few days ago, on the seventh floor of Bergdorf Goodman in Manhattan, the Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena celebrated the publication of their third book. The book, which bears the same name as their AW23 collection – ‘Conversations With Angels’ – is a wonderful exhibition of the fantastic designs of fashion label Chopova Lowena accompanied by a romantic retelling of the fairy tale ‘The Snow Queen’ written in 1844 by Hans Christian Andersen. Written by London-born but New York-based poet Precious Okoyomon and photographed by Charlotte Wales, it stars the undisputed fashion icon Chloë Sevigny as ‘The Queen’, who spoke to Dazed about the collaboration.

In the illustrated pages of the book there are ten photographs of Sevigny. “I love their work, so when they asked me I said, ‘Oh, come on, yeah,'” Sevigny explains. “Then they told me there was no money and I said ‘I don’t care I just want to work with you’.”

“I was left to whatever fantasy they wanted to create and to enter their world and hopefully convey what they wanted to present. Working in this capacity with (fashion) designers is really exciting and a great alternative to acting and you know I’ve done editorials (in magazines) but this felt more expansive as it was a whole book,” she says.
The shoot took place over two days, one in New York and the other in London, and Sevigny admitted that what she loves about both the shoot and the book is the cute photography of her son, Vanja. However, her favorite fairy tale is “Tosodoula”.

The launch night culminated with Sevigny reading Okoyomon. “Steal some light! Feel more symmetrical! Run away from the fear of self! Maybe you will learn what love is,” he said. “Everyone thinks I’m mean, but I’m just really hot.”
