Lady Gaga’s dad rallies his New York neighbors in a fight to “manage” the unruly immigrants near his home and restaurant.

“If it was like this when my girls were growing up, I wouldn’t be living in New York,” says the 66-year-old Joe Germanottawho is compiling a list of local residents’ concerns to take to legislators, the police department and homeless services, in protest.

The father of the famous singer has lived in The Pythian building, on West 70th Street, for 35 years. There he raised his two daughters, including the “Born This Way” singer. He also opened a restaurant in the community in 2012.

About six weeks ago, the Stratford Arms Hotel – a hall of the American Music and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) – located below Joe Germanotta’s house, became a shelter for hundreds of immigrants. “There are now 500 migrants living in this dormitory. That’s when the chaos started.” Since the conversion, Germanotta says life in the area has taken a hit, with impromptu block parties that last until the wee hours of the morning, prostitutes in the area and more.

Both he and the neighbors are asking the police to take action and solve the problem. “The worst is at night. The noise. It starts around 22:00 and lasts until 4 in the morning. They play music and race their motocross bikes and motorcycles up and down the streets. I don’t mind it being there. He will be there for three years. That was the contract, I understand. But at least manage it. Put in proper security, have a police presence and a code of conduct. They are guests in our neighborhood and have basically taken it over,” he added.

Finally, Joe Germanotta criticized the mayor for his handling of the immigration crisis. “Cruise ships hold more people and the environment is more controlled. The city is spending a huge amount of money that could be spent on building housing.”
