Ridley Scott admitted he regretted not directing the sequel to the 1982 sci-fi classic, “Blade Runner”.

The film “Blade Runner 2049” was directed in 2017 by Denis Villeneuve starring Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas and Jared Leto with Harrison Ford reprising his role from the first film.

Scott’s name was initially linked to the sequel. However, in 2014 he announced that he would pass on the opportunity due to other planned projects. The English director directed the film “Alien: Covenant” (2017), starring Michael Fassbinder, Billy Crudup, and Danny McBride.

I shouldn’t have made that decisionRidley Scott said in a recent interview with Empire. “But I had to. I should have directed ‘Blade Runner 2’».

The director will return to a producer role, however, for Amazon Studios’ upcoming “Blade Runner 2099” series.

The first “Blade Runner,” directed by Ridley Scott, is considered one of the most important science fiction films of all time, and we’re thrilled to bring “Blade Runner 2099” to Prime Video customerssaid Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon Studios.
