With a spectacular spectacle, offered by 400 young musicians, who come from eight orchestras and five countries, the curtain opens next Wednesday on the 24th International Festival of Youth Orchestras of the Municipality of Delta.

The opening ceremony of the four-day festival will take place in the courtyard of the Sindos Culture Center, while it will be followed by a concert with the Sindos Youth Orchestra under the direction of the Festival’s artistic director Miltos Polychronidis, while the songs will be performed by Evi Siamandas, Giorgos Perin and Kiki Tsaliki, with free entry for the public.

The orchestras from Italy, Israel, Cyprus, Bulgaria and Greece will present their programs on Thursday and Friday, while the closing ceremony on Saturday, August 26, will be preceded by a parade on Megalou Alexandrou Street.

The International Festival of Youth Orchestras began in 1998 with the characteristic phrase “Music unites us”, while gradually, apart from music, important values ​​and ideas were added, such as volunteerism, cooperation, concern for fellow human beings, support for Greek products, the return of ancient sculptures to Greece, the interest in renewable energy sources and the environment in general.

Twenty-four years later, the International Festival of Youth Orchestras, organized by the Social & Cultural Organization of the Municipality of Delta, has established a significant presence not only in Thessaloniki and Greece, but also on the international musical horizon, a fact underlined by great reviews from the national Press and international networks (such as IFEA – World Festival Network and WASBE – World Association of Conductors).

The International Festival of Youth Orchestras is held with the support of the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, ETVA VIPE, the Chamber of Commerce of Thessaloniki, the “big sponsors” ELPE and SIDENOR, as well as with the support of the business community of the Delta Municipality.
