The Festival takes place this year from August 30th to September 9th
The Venice International Festival turns 80 this year and from August 30 to September 9, all eyes worldwide will be on the Lido and the big premieres, international stars and their impressive red carpet appearances.
With the “Commander” by Edoardo De Angelis to be the opening film, this is set to be a very strong year for the festival.
This year, among many great choices, we singled out the 10 films that make us look forward to their premiere at the Festival and, of course, to see them ourselves in theaters.
The 10 films we can’t wait to see at this year’s Venice Film Festival
- Poor Things by Giorgos Lanthimos
Plot: Bella Baxter is brought back to life thanks to her unorthodox scientist and guardian, Dr. Godwin Baxter. But she, having a great thirst to discover the world, breaks up with a lawyer, Duncan Wedderburn, and they travel from continent to continent.
The new film by Giorgos Lanthimos has already impressed with the trailers that have been released. The cast consists of excellent names, first of all the director’s favorite collaborator, Emma Stone, but also by Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe and Ramy Youssef. The film is expected to hit theaters in December.
- David Fincher’s The Killer
Plot: An executioner battles his bosses as well as himself in a global manhunt that he insists is not personal.
The director of “Seven”, “Fight Club”, “Zodiac” and many more successful films with his personal stamp, returns three years after his last work – “Mank”. Like the last one, this movie will be on the Netflix platform, specifically on November 10. Starring Michael Fassbender, Tilda Swinton, Arliss Howard, Charles Parnell, Kerry O’Malley, Sala Baker and Sophie Charlotte.
- Priscilla by Sofia Coppola
Plot: The life of a teenager Priscilla Beaulieubut also of the already well-known rock-and-roll star, Elvis Presley, will change significantly after they meet.
A year after Baz Luhrmann’s biopic “Elvis” about the life of Elvis Presley, Sofia Coppola is coming – after a three-year absence – to bring us to the big screen a film about the life of the inimitable Priscilla Presley, wife of the King of Rock and Roll. In the title role we meet Cailee Spaeny and in the role of Elvis Jacob Elordi.
- Bradley Cooper’s maestro
Plot: The life of the American conductor Leonard Bernstein through his relationship with his wife, Felicia Montealegre.
Biopic financed by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, among others. Bradley Cooper directs and stars at the same time for the second time after the hit ‘A Star Is Born’.
