Christine Baumgartner, 49, moved out of the beachfront property last month and now lives in a nearby house, renting for $40,000 a month
Kevin Costner’s estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner, broke down in court as he detailed the couple’s lavish $11 million-a-year lifestyle, which includes a $175 million beach house and a 160,000-acre ranch in Aspen.
Christine Baumgartner, 49, moved out of the beachfront property last month and now lives in a house nearby, renting for $40,000 a month.
Although luxurious, she says the new home doesn’t provide the same amenities and doesn’t meet her children’s needs, so she’s asking for extra cash in order to get a new home. She showed the court a series of photos of her ex-husband’s $175 million home, which show an ocean-view infinity pool and two guest suites.
Interior shots show decor designed to match what he described as “California living,” with colorful rugs, leather sofas and a huge marble table with dark wood chairs overlooking the ocean.
Christine Baumgartner, who used her husband’s last name in court, also spoke of the family’s athletic lifestyle that includes regular surfing, fishing, diving and volleyball. This includes a boat owned by their son Cayden and a special room dedicated to the family’s large collection of surfboards, wetsuits and paddleboards.
In his opening statement, Christine Baumgartner’s lawyer, John Ridel, claimed that the famous actor is raking in more than $1.4 million a month! During his deposition two weeks ago, Kevin Costner put his monthly living expenses at $240,000, but he wants to pay his ex no more than $60,000 a month.
Although Christine Baumgartner remained impassive for most of her testimony, there were moments when she broke down in tears when the couple’s Aspen ranch was mentioned, prompting the court to break for a five-minute break. With tears in her eyes, she admitted that Costner had been paying her mother $5,000 a month for years, but the payments stopped when they divorced.
The mother of three initially asked for a total of $248,000 in monthly alimony, which Costner, 68, said he was opposed to. After being awarded a significantly smaller amount, she is now asking to receive $175,000 a month to provide their children with a better standard of living while they are with her.
