Ed Sheeran is set to make a surprise appearance in the new comedy “Sumotherhood”. The 32-year-old singer appeared in the trailer for the film – by rapper and director Adam Deacon – with the film described as “a parody of the British urban genre”. Ed Sheeran will play a homeless drug addict in the film.

It’s unclear to what extent the singer will be involved in the new film, but it will be a rare occasion where he will play a character rather than himself on screen. Earlier this year, a source told The Sun newspaper: “Ed plays this guy who doesn’t have a home and looks like a junkie. It was shot a while ago, but shooting for the film is almost complete and the hope is to release it this year».

Jeremy Corbyn has also been confirmed to join the cast of ‘Sumotherhood’, which was filmed in London last year. Jennifer Saunders and Denise Van Outen will also appear in the film.

‘Sumotherhood’ will be released in UK cinemas on October 13.
