In late 2022, franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer had stated that there are two separate films in development with Barbie star Margot Robbie committed to star in one of them
The co-creator and showrunner of the hit HBO series “The Last of Us”, Craig Mazinrevealed (via the Los Angeles Times ) that before the pandemic, he had pitched his own idea for the sixth film “Pirates of the Caribbean“, which, as mentioned, will practically be a reboot. To his surprise, Disney liked the idea and put it into development, but it is currently “frozen” due to the writers’ strike.
“We presented it and we thought there was no way they would buy it because it’s too weird of an idea. And they bought it! Then Ted Elliott wrote a fantastic script and then the strike happened and everyone is waiting to see what happens“, said the screenwriter and producer.
