May December opens the New York Film Festival on September 29
Netflix Teases ‘May December’of the much-discussed drama by Todd Haynes, starring the Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore. It is the sixth time they join forces o Todd Haynes and Julia Moore in a film whose premise revolves around a married couple that twenty years ago made headlines.
It is the romance of a teacher Gracie (Moore) and her 13-year-old student, Joe, who was arrested, served her sentence in prison, and then after they got married moved away to live quietly with their family.
An aspiring actress Elizabeth Berry (Portman) decides to travel to Savannah, Georgia to meet them and study their lives for her new role.
They are joined by Charles Melton, with Cory Michael Smith, DG Moffett, Drew Side and Jocelyn Selfo. The script was written by first-time screenwriter Sammy Burts, with producers including Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum and Natalie Portman.
The famous platform bought the distribution rights during the 76th Cannes Film Festival where the film had its world premiere for $11 million after a bidding war.
The screening of “May December” opens the New York Film Festival on September 29. It’s due in theaters on November 17th and then on Netflix on December 1st.
