Oedipus the Tyrant, directed by Simos Kakala at the Petra Theater

One of the leading ancient tragedies, “Oedipus the Tyrant” by Sophocles continues its summer tour, on Monday, September 11, at 9:00 p.m., at the Petra Theater, directed by Simos Kakalas with Yiannis Stankoglou in the title role.

Oedipus is faced with his destiny, which he has been trying to escape from since he was born. The oracle received by his father, King of Thebes, Laius, is confirmed in the worst way. Oedipus unknowingly becomes a parricide, marries Jocasti’s mother and ascends the throne of Thebes himself. The tragic truth is soon revealed, confirming that man cannot escape his fate.
