The Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro formalized a complaint against medical student Yuri de Moura Alexandre, who attacked actor Victor Meyniel. The decision was announced this Tuesday (12) and confirmed the maintenance of the accused’s preventive detention. The information is from the newspaper O Globo.
Last Friday (8), the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police had already indicted Alexandre. On the same day, Meyniel gave a new statement and denied having threatened the student or having acted inappropriately towards the student’s friend, Karina Carvalho.
According to prosecutor Roberto Saad Alves da Costa, “the accused, consciously and voluntarily, insulted the dignity of Victor Meyniel Rocha, motivated by his sexual orientation.” The prosecutor added that Yuri de Moura Alexandre “falsified his identity with the aim of obtaining personal advantages, claiming, when detained by the police authorities, that he was an Air Force soldier.”
The complaint now goes to the judge of the 27th Criminal Court, Flávio Itabaiana, for consideration, and the student is being accused of bodily harm, false identity and homophobic insult.
Meyniel and Alexandre met on the night of September 1st in a nightclub close to the building where Yuri lives in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, and later went to the student’s apartment. However, a disagreement between the two resulted in an attack at the entrance to the building, with Victor suffering several punches to the face. Yuri was arrested in the act and, later, his arrest was converted into preventative arrest last Monday (4).
Victor Meyniel is known for his performance in the film “My 15 Years”, on Netflix, and in the series “Queens of Brazil”, on the TBS channel.
