Martin Scorsese again expresses his opinion about her films Marvel. The American director, screenwriter and producer, who is promoting his new film “Killers of the Flower Moon” – previously made headlines when he said Marvel movies are “not cinema.”

Martin Scorsese has spoken out about the comic book entertainment industry in a new interview with GQ, saying that “it’s what certain movies are doing to our culture that’s dangerous.”

There will be generations now who think that movies are just that – that this is what movies are… they already believe that,” he stressed, adding: “That means we have to fight back harder. It has to start from the grassroots and from the film makers…. We must save the cinema».

Scorsese said that cinema could be anything, it didn’t just have to be serious – for example the film ‘Some Like It Hot’ is cinema.

However, the filmmaker added: “I believe that manufactured content is not real cinema».

What I mean is, it’s crafted content. It’s almost like Artificial Intelligence (AI) making a movie. And that doesn’t mean you don’t have incredible directors and special effects people making beautiful artwork. But what does it mean? What do these movies do, what will they give you? Except for a kind of consumption and then erasure from your mind, from your entire body. So what do they give you?»

Scorsese is not “a Luddite or a technophobe,” the magazine’s reporter said, adding that the director is as excited about Avatar: The Way of Water, its 3D and IMAX and formal and technological experimentation as anyone.
