Mateus Verdelho tries to overcome guilt after giving birth to Shantal and wants more children

Known for margarine commercial-style posts, the couple Shantal and Mateus Verdelho have appeared in the news for much less glamorous reasons. In September 2021, after the birth of their daughter Domenica, they accused the doctor Renato Kalil of obstetric violence. He denies the charges. Since then, the family has been trying to get back on its feet.

In an interview with F5, Mateus reveals that he has intensified the therapy sessions to be able to move on and take away from him a guilt that he says he still carries. On the day of delivery, when he heard the screams and faced the obstetrician’s posture, he preferred to give the woman strength and not interfere directly.

“I often ask myself why I didn’t act differently, and therapy has helped me to think differently, to take that guilt and that weight off of me. I wasn’t the one who did the wrong thing. I was there to trying to strengthen my wife and unfortunately we went through that”, he analyzes.

Cremesp (Regional Council of Medicine of the State of São Paulo) opened an investigation into the case and informed in a note that the investigations are being processed confidentially. According to the entity, details of the accusation will only be revealed after the end of the process.

From the moment the first audios and videos of the doctor’s procedure on the day of delivery surfaced, after a leak from a WhatsApp group, Mateus decided it was time to have the courage to act and talk about it. It was then that he and Shantal decided to exhibit all over Brazil in order to prevent situations like the one that had just happened from happening to more people.

“I strongly believe in the reflection of the event. Everything has a purpose. After we spoke, several other cases appeared with this doctor of people who did not have the courage to go ahead and report it. We have the voice and the spotlight to take action and save others. families”, evaluates Verdelho.

However, all this reflection took a while to appear. The model and entrepreneur reinforces that when looking back, he can more easily learn some lessons from this episode. According to him, if that happened today, it wouldn’t take him so long to suspect suspicious attitudes since the time of the first exams.

As if all that wasn’t enough, on January 23, 2022, Mateus and Shantal had their house robbed. The model says that the criminals already knew how the residence was going, so much so that they went straight to the places where the jewelry, collection sneakers and watches were kept.

“We still don’t have any clues, but it was strange, because the people who entered here went directly to specific points. More and more we came to the conclusion that this robbery was ordered by someone who already knew us. We lost more than R$ 100 thousand in this robbery”, he says. Fortunately there was no one there and the damage was only material.

All these troubles that the couple has been going through have served to further strengthen their union that has lasted more than five years and whose fruits are their children Filippo, 3, and Domenica, 4 months old.

“Our relationship has always had a strong connection. From the day we met, everything went very fast. It seems like we’ve been together for 20 years. All these difficulties and learnings we had, good or bad, served for us to learn as a lesson and unite . Overcome.”

The connection also takes place when the thought is to keep growing the family. Mateus reveals that generating another child or adopting is in the plans for the future. “I was even saying that at the time I didn’t want to, but after Domenica was born and we went through this whirlwind of things, that desire rekindled. We’ll have to wait for Shantal’s postpartum period and let everything unfold organically”, he explains.

Until that moment arrives, Mateus is reconciling family care and therapy sessions with his work, which is in full swing. A businessman, he has just returned from a trip to the United States where he went to check out a clothing fair to get ideas and possible partnerships to link to his clothing brand, Hollywoodogz.

“This year I have several actions with my brand, several things in mind. I have the idea of ​​taking the brand out of the country and that is not so far away. I have a lot to explore with my image and focus on the area of ​​creative direction , not only for my brand but for others as well”, highlights Mateus.

He ends by talking about the importance of staying active to overcome all problems. “And all this helps me to deal with it, I can’t stand still. There are things that are boring, but that’s life, no one is happy or sad forever, you have to have balance. It’s having positivity and life that goes on.”
