It’s been a few months since actor Bruno Fagundes publicly admitted that he is dating fellow actor Igor Fernandez. From the beginning, he said he had support from his family. This Tuesday (26), participating in the Meeting with Patrícia Poeta (Globo), he and his father, Antônio Fagundes, spoke about the process faced after the announcement.
Bruno said that Antônio handled the situation well. The actor then admitted that he was not raised in the same way: “My generation was raised under this sexist, patriarchal, reactionary structure, where the person does not exist. There are values inflicted on you as a child and you carry them for the rest of your life without I don’t even know why.”
The actor said he went through a deconstruction process and highlighted the importance of changing prejudiced structures. “I think we have to go through this, understand this and put an end to it. End it once and for all. End homophobia, end misogyny, patriarchy, machismo, sexism,” he said.
Bruno also said that he was afraid of coming out as homosexual, but he began to feel the need to express his feelings: “I started to go into a process of finding my peace, because it’s very uncomfortable when you can’t feel comfortable in your own skin.” “I realized this was aggression,” he said.
Bruno has also told Folha that he was the victim of aggression in a public place because he was homosexual. He also felt ill when asked by a TV reporter if he was gay.
The announcement was made by the actor on his social networks in January this year, when he shared a photo with his boyfriend.
